What this looks like

  • A storefront or marketplace keeps accepting orders after practical available stock has already been committed elsewhere.
  • Fast-moving SKUs sell through multiple channels faster than inventory changes can be reconciled.
  • Safety stock, reserved stock or fulfillment inventory is interpreted differently by different systems.

What to inspect

  • Available-to-sell quantity by SKU and channel, not just total physical stock.
  • Recent orders and reservations that reduce practical availability before a stock write occurs.
  • Synchronization delay, failed updates and whether the same item is mapped consistently across channels.

Operating response

  1. Define the available-to-sell rule and the inventory source of truth.
  2. Detect risky divergence before quantities are pushed outward.
  3. Apply channel updates only through guarded write policies and supported APIs.
  4. Read back the resulting quantity and surface any channel that did not converge.
YEEDOOR coverage today: The planned Multi-channel Inventory Sync add-on is intended to address this workflow, but it is still in development. YEEDOOR currently exposes the problem and the underlying capability map for discovery without claiming a live cross-channel overselling-prevention product.
